South East London’s Ajao is hugely exciting writer with particular specialism in Comedy, Entertainment and British Theatre. Raised in Peckham, of Nigerian descent, David has worked on scripted projects with Mo Gilligan, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, the prestigious Old Vic, New Voices and was one of main editorial leads on the new Big Breakfast relaunch for Channel. He has also written on several high profile Entertainment shows including Simon Cowell’s Walk the Line (ITV) and Jimmy Fallon’s That’s My Jam (NBC).
David is also a highly praised actor, with extensive performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company, including Orlando in As You Like it, Pompey in Measure for Measure and Montano in Othello. He was also part of the Australia and New Zealand Tour of Barbershop Chronicles for The National Theatres and will soon be seen Channel 4’s upcoming drama Close to Me and BBC’s Superhoe.
Other written projects as cast include Romeo and Juliet (Unicorn Theatre), Primetime (Royal Court), Superjohn (Pleasance 2, Edinburgh Fringe), Otieno (Southwark Playhouse), Remix (Battersea Arts Centre), Gangs of Tooting Broadway (Film), Urban Mischief (Box Clever Theatre) and Duwayne (The Old Hove Market Brighton).
In 2021 David became Deputy Artistic Director of Brixton based Box Clever Theatre company.
